4/26/2023 0 Comments Windowsapps folder![]() ![]() I would say your best bet now is to boot into a Linux thumbdrive or some other way to get control over it and delete the old folder and hope Windows isn't already corrupted by seeing it. You can also potentially nuke the folder entirely using a Linux boot or other method before attaching the drive. The safest thing to do is format the drive before you hook it up to a fresh windows install. It seems that if the new install of Windows even sees the old WindowsApps folder once it will mess up the AppX database and you'll either get issues with Windows Store immediately or in a few weeks down the line. It basically corrupts the AppX database on the new Windows install. This almost always causes the Windows Store to break as it contains information from a previous install. The problem is that the new install will see the old WindowsApps folder on the drive and try to use it. If there is a "WindowsApps" folder on a drive you put on a new system, it can totally mess up your Windows Store. It is actually a far worse issue than it seems. I had the exact same issue as you on one of my Windows reinstalls. I'm the OP from the nightmare gamepass thread. 1c:usersappdatalocalmicrosoftwindowsappsubuntu1804. ![]()
